Slayden won the American Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA), which was announced at the AGC Annual Convention in San Diego, California, in March. The CSEA reflects Slayden’s leadership under Tom Paul, who prioritizes safety at all levels of management and cultivates a buy-in culture and comprehensive safety program that ensures everyone is always safe. People at Slayden are empowered to speak up when they see something unsafe or a potential hazard. There’s always engagement at the executive level to assess best practices and make the right decisions so that safety measures continue to reflect the changing needs of the men and women on project sites. Key to their success is the proactive use of digital tools for safety planning, allowing them to anticipate and mitigate potential risks before they occur.
Tom Paul and Andrew Pharis, Vice President of Operations, attended the ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of the company. The CSEA is an ongoing and evolving effort by the AGC of America to recognize companies that have developed and implemented excellent safety and loss prevention programs achieved through management commitment, employee involvement, and program innovation. The CSEA Award is considered the most prestigious Safety Award in the Construction industry.

Slayden Constructors and Jacobs Engineering recently completed a $78 million expansion of the Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant for the Medford Water Commission. The project boosts capacity from 45 to 65 million gallons per day and adds advanced filtration, a new reservoir, a modern pump station, and seismic‑resilient redundancies. This upgrade strengthens long‑term water reliability for Medford and the greater Rogue Valley, supporting regional growth and public health.
