Slayden served as the general contractor for Clean Water Services’ Rock Creek AWWTF Primary Clarifier No. 4 Treatment Expansion project. The project expanded and modernized primary treatment capacity at the active Rock Creek facility through construction of a new 140-foot-diameter primary clarifier and related process improvements.
Construction included demolition of existing reinforced concrete headworks, grit chambers, rectangular clarifiers, process mechanical systems, electrical and instrumentation systems, and other improvements within the new work area. Slayden constructed the new Primary Clarifier No. 4, a new primary clarifier pump gallery, and an extended reinforced concrete utilidor connecting the new improvements to the existing primary clarifier gallery.
Additional scope included a new septage receiving station near the influent pump station, primary sludge and scum pumping improvements, yard piping, drainage, electrical, instrumentation and controls, parking lot and entryway improvements, site restoration, and tie-ins to existing plant infrastructure.
The work was carefully sequenced within an operating treatment facility. Slayden coordinated shutdowns, temporary connections, access, site security, testing, and startup requirements while maintaining critical treatment operations. The completed improvements increased primary treatment capacity, improved operational flexibility, and strengthened long-term reliability at one of Clean Water Services’ key wastewater facilities.

Slayden earned First Place in the 2025 AGC Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) in the Utility Infrastructure Category — Under 500,000 Work Hours.
