
Slayden is serving as the general contractor for a major expansion and modernization project at the Forest Grove Water Resource Recovery Facility in Forest Grove, Oregon. The project includes construction of two new cast-in-place concrete primary clarifiers and supporting treatment infrastructure designed to enhance the facility’s capacity, reliability, and operational efficiency while maintaining continuous wastewater treatment operations throughout construction.
Key project components include a new Primary Solids Building with pump gallery and electrical facilities, a primary influent/effluent control structure, chemical treatment systems including alum storage and feed facilities and a lime feed system, new aeration basin inlet piping, and a comprehensive odor control system featuring a biofilter, ductwork, and associated mechanical equipment. The scope also encompasses extensive yard piping, utility relocations, instrumentation and controls upgrades, electrical distribution improvements, and site enhancements such as access roads, paving, fencing, and landscaping.
Working within an active treatment facility, Slayden is coordinating complex construction sequencing, utility rerouting, and system tie-ins to ensure uninterrupted plant operations while delivering critical infrastructure improvements that support long-term wastewater treatment performance and regulatory compliance for the community.

Slayden’s Jeff Wall recently achieved a unique milestone. At the Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association (PNCWA) conference in Spokane, Washington, Jeff became the first contractor to be chosen under the PNCWA to join the Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers, also known as the 5S society. Members are selected based on “outstanding, meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty.” As recognition for this achievement, Jeff received a one-of-a-kind -5S gold shovel award.
