Slayden Constructors delivered a major upgrade to the EWEB Hayden Bridge Filtration Plant with the installation of a new 15 million gallon reservoir and pump station constructed without any interruption to the City of Eugene’s only drinking water supply. This seamless delivery was made possible through extensive coordination between Slayden and EWEB operations teams, ensuring every shutdown and system tie in was planned with precision and carried out safely.
The project included 70,000 cubic yards of excavation and the construction of a 10,000 CY cast in place concrete reservoir featuring 42 foot tall battered walls reinforced with both vertical and horizontal post tensioning. Cast in place columns and beams supported hollow core roof panels topped by a structural concrete slab, forming a resilient, long term asset designed to meet the region’s future water demand needs.
Adjacent to the reservoir, Slayden built a new cast in place pump station equipped with seven 300 HP vertical turbine pumps, extensive mechanical piping, and advanced electrical systems. Additional work included critical tie ins to aging 45 inch and 60 inch mains, installation of chemical piping and bulk storage tanks, and the addition of a containment room designed to support a future conversion from chlorine gas to sodium hypochlorite.
This project underscores Slayden’s commitment to delivering essential water infrastructure through thoughtful planning, technical expertise, and close collaboration with the communities we serve.

Slayden earned First Place in the 2025 AGC Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) in the Utility Infrastructure Category — Under 500,000 Work Hours.
